Robotic solar and optical telescopes

Schmidt-Cassegrain optical telescopeIn recognition of the school’s commitment to quality astronomy education, the University of California, Berkeley (USA), gifted us a robotic 14” Schmidt-Cassegrain optical telescope on behalf of the Hands-On Universe (HOU) project.

James Cook University Townsville also donated a dome to house the telescope in, along with a smaller enclosure for our 90mm (3.5”) solar refractor.

Both telescopes will be operated by students via computers in a control room within our nearby auditorium.
