Course Description

Online Senior Astronomy is designed to be an online, highly flexible and highly challenging subject for students with an interest in Maths and Physics. Begin the course at any time of the year, and study on the holidays, weekends, or fit Senior Astronomy into any subject line. Our students have access to a range of Help and Support technologies that connect you to our facilitators using a Live Text Chat, Video Conferencing, Integrated Checkpoints, Q&A Forums or Email. Along with a certificate of completion, our students are credited with 2 QCE credit points at the time of course completion. Several leading Australian tertiary institutions are recognising our well established courses through their scholarship programs.  Students interested in developing their higher order thinking skills can apply now and begin studying.

Course Specificaiton

Students will learn how to quantitatively model and apply the laws of physics to a wide range of astronomy related topics which will empower them as rational and creative thinkers, engaging them in the acquisition of knowledge and the development and understanding of the physical aspects of astronomy through active processes of scientific investigation and research.​

A work-rate schedule is issued to students to assist them in keeping on-track to finish in one year.

Highly capable students in mathematics and science Capable students in mathematics and science

Methods (or equivalent)
-Maths Methods (or equivalent)

Senior Astronomy is recommended for Yr 11 students who have achieved high grades in Yr 10 mathematics (advanced) and science. It is desirable for students to be studying Mathematics B (QLD) or equivalent and Senior Physics concurrently with Senior Astronomy. The course can be delivered to talented Yr 10 students as an accelerated curriculum option for mathematics and science.

Students need to have a supervisor who will read and agree to the supervisor's declaration. A supervisor is someone who we can contact for queries relating to assesment and progress. Your supervisor will have to setup and supervise your supervised assesment items.
