Jupiter from the Back-yard

Image by Raplh Smith - 16" SCT Meade

This photo of Jupiter was taken on 13th March by Mr Ralph Smith from his backyard in Warren, NSW.  Ralph is the founder of ‘Eyes on the Sun’ and a world-renown solar photographer.

Eyes on the Sun is a curriculum partner in our Solar Astronomy units and Ralph will be working with TSAA students who attend the 2016 Annual Astro Conference at Mt Kent Observatories.

Another gas giant, Saturn, will be at opposition (highest point in the sky at around midnight) on the 3rd June, with clear winter skies making for great viewing of this majestic planet.
